Virginia Tech Student Body,
The Student Senate is a legislative body that comprises half of the Student Government legislative branch. Membership in the Senate can be attained if a student is elected by his peers in his respective college on the Virginia Tech campus. This election occurs at the end of the spring semester and their term begins the following fall school year.
In the fall the Senate begins its weekly meetings to discuss issues on campus, research and write legislation, and work to address the concerns of the Student Body. When legislation is passed in the Student Senate and the Student House of Representatives it is considered the will of the student body. It then is sent through the university governance in hopes of creating change on the campus to improve the lives of the students.
If you have any concerns with regards to your college or issues dealing with student life on campus please contact your college senators and allow them to serve the student body. At times during the semester there are vacant seats in the Senate and feel free to email me to find out if there is a vacancy in your college. For more information about the Senate please contact me, my email address is ajmil06@vt.edu.
